    yeah, these guys aren't paid well by our standards, but bear in mind they might get paid well by *theirs.* for example, for what little chinese workers earn that's still enough for them to start having a middle class.

      It's called a Phentex Rig Punching Needle. I got mine on Ebay for like $27 with shipping. They are vintage so you may want to oil it.

      @@jonahjohnson5821 The adhesive is nasty stuff! Perchloroethylene, you need to protect your sinuses and mouth from that. Use a half face respirator with organic vapor cartridges

      @@Inadisguise handknotted can be replicated with modern machines which is still better than handtufted that requires zero training & tracing paper to roughly copy design with a weaving gun and fibers shed like crazy, has glued canvas backing with weird chemical smell, can pull fibers out with hand easily....       @@billriz4573 handtufted is great quality if they know what they're doing. with machines you still have to trace still have feed yarn the machine just goes a bit faster that's it

    It's the quality of materials and technique, not the method. Quality tufted rugs can be made to last for generations.

    These tuffted rugs are junk. Sheds, used from unhealthy glue thats the reason workers who work has to wear masks so that they don't get TB or cancer. Tuffted a rug is not called handmade . Its realistically machine gunning. Tuffted rugs are the major downfall of rug industry, people in villages in india are dieing tuffting a rug every week. Everybody is quite not telling the truth. Handknotted rug making art is disappearing because of this tuffted rugs. The real costing to making these rugs is under $1 sq.ft and selling for lot more. Its profitable but its made as a use and throw product and unhealthy.

    Hi Kat, we use mostly New Zealand wool for our hand made rugs and the sheep there are treated very well.

      Hey Dolly I’m in new rug maker,I’m actually a felter and I did not use any type of backing other than wall and silk around the edges to stop the spread while I’m working with the wool. You sound to see if you know quite a bit about certain clues I would love for you to talk to me more about the constant shedding? I have a Heirloom rug and it is all hand knotted it doesn’t have any glue on it but it sheds a lot too.So please elaborate thank you so much
